I'll be there. Anybody else going?
No way. I hate this film. But I'm trying for Taxi Driver next week.
Hate The Searchers? Why? You're an odd duck, Joaquin...
Not a huge John Wayne or Ford fan. That and this film has been crammed down my throat in virtually every course I took in film school. Simply can't bring myself to watch it for the eleventh time.
Interesting, from both of you. I've watched Taxi Driver probably between fifteen and twenty times and I'm pretty much done with it. I've gotten less and less interested in the film over time because Schrader and Scorsese seem to have two different aims in what it's about. The Searchers, on the other hand, has only gotten more interesting for me over time. I'm not saying it's how you should react to it, but I think that as a film it's deeper, more complex, and has more interesting things to say than TD. Discuss.
